Vonetta McGee



Lawrence Vonetta McGee (January 14, 1945 – July 9, 2010) was an American actress.

Vonetta McGee was born in San Francisco on January 14, 1945, and graduated from San Francisco Polytechnic High School. She made her debut in 1968 as the eponymous star of Italian comedy Faustina. In the same year she performed alongside Jean-Louis Trintignant and Klaus Kinski in the Western The Great Silence, but became well-known for her parts in the 1972 Blaxploitation films Melinda and Hammer.

In the action thriller Shaft in Africa (1973), McGee took the role of Aleme, the daughter of an emir, who teaches John Shaft (Richard Roundtree) Ethiopian geography. She also starred alongside Clint Eastwood in the action thriller The Eiger Sanction (1975).

In 1987, McGee married the actor Carl Lumbly; they had one child. McGee died from cardiac arrest on July 9, 2010.

I love the 1959 movie "Pillow Talk" which starred Doris Day and Rock Hudson.  One of the reasons why it's in my top movie selection is because of the Singer/Actress Perry Blackwell. LaWanda Page

LaWanda Page (October 19, 1920 – September 14, 2002), born Alberta Peal , was an American actress and comedienne best known for her portrayal of Aunt Esther in the 1970s TV sitcom Sanford and Son . Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Page was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She began her career in show business working small nightclubs, billed as "The Bronze Goddess of Fire," an act which included her eating fire and lighting cigarettes with her fingertips. She performed the cigarette feat on an episode of Sanford and Son , in which Fred held a circus in his front yard.
