Dynasty  is an American  prime time  television  soap opera  that aired on  ABC  from January 12, 1981 to May 11, 1989. The series, created by  Richard and Esther Shapiro  and produced by  Aaron Spelling , revolved around the  Carringtons , a wealthy family residing in  Denver, Colorado .The series was ABC's competitor to  CBS 's prime time series  Dallas , and starred  John Forsythe  as oil magnate  Blake Carrington ,  Linda Evans  as his new wife  Krystle  and later  Joan Collins  as his former wife  Alexis . Prince Rogers Nelson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Prince Rogers Nelson  (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016), known by his given name  Prince , was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor. Prince was renowned as an  innovator  and was widely known for his eclectic work, flamboyant stage presence, and  vocal range . He is regarded as the pioneer of  Minneapolis sound ; his music integrates a wide variety of styles, including  funk ,  rock ,  R&B ,  soul ,  psychedelia , and  pop . Prince was born in  Minneapolis  and developed an interest in music as a young child, writing his first song when he was seven years old. After recording songs with his cousin's band  94 East , 19-year-old Prince recorded several unsuccessful  demo tapes  before releasing his debut album  For You  in 1978, under the guidance of manager Owen Husney. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Denise Katrina Matthews  (January 4, 1959 – February 15, 2016), formerly known as  Vanity  and sometimes credited as  Denise Matthews-Smith  or  D.D. Winters , was a Canadian singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and model, who turned away from her acting and music career to concentrate on  evangelism . Vanity's career lasted from the 1980s until the early mid-1990s. She was the lead singer of the female trio  Vanity 6  from 1981 until it disbanded in 1983. The group was well known for their 1982  R&B / funk  hit " Nasty Girl ". Vanity's music career also included two solo albums on  Motown Records ,  Wild Animal  and Skin on Skin , as well as the hit singles " Pretty Mess ", " Mechanical Emotion ", and " Under the Influence ". She also had a successful acting career, starring in films  The Last Dragon ,  52 Pick-Up , and  Action Jackson .

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia David Bowie  (born  David Robert Jones ; 8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016) was an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, arranger, painter, and actor. Bowie was a figure in popular music for over four decades, and was known as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. His  androgynous  appearance was an iconic element of his image, particularly in the 1970s and 1980s. Bowie's first hit song, " Space Oddity ", reached the top five of the  UK Singles Chart  after its release in July 1969. After a three-year period of experimentation, he re-emerged in 1972 during the  glam rock  era with the flamboyant,  androgynous   alter ego  Ziggy Stardust, spearheaded by the hit single " Starman " and the album  The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars . From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Natalie Maria Cole  (February 6, 1950 – December 31, 2015) was an  American  singer, songwriter, and performer. The daughter of  Nat King Cole , Natalie rose to musical success in the mid–1970s as an  R&B  artist with the hits " This Will Be ", " Inseparable ", and " Our Love ". After a period of failing sales and performances due to a heavy  drug addiction , Cole re-emerged as a pop artist with the 1987 album  Everlasting  and her cover of  Bruce Springsteen 's " Pink Cadillac ". In the 1990s, she re-recorded standards by her father, resulting in her biggest success,  Unforgettable... with Love , which sold over seven million copies and also won Cole numerous Grammy Awards. She sold over 30 million records worldwide. On December 31, 2015, Cole died at the age of 65 at  Cedars-Sinai Medical Center  in  Los Angeles , California, due to  congestive heart failure
